The Maternity Department Relocation and New Main Entrance at Royal Cornwall Hospital
KTA were invited to tender for this unique bid to relocate The Maternity Department and other associated services including the new main entrance. We proposed the following:
- Provide Maternity, Neonatal and Gynaecology Outpatient and Paediatric Services in facilities fit for modern health care purposes.
- Provide care within an environment that improves the patient experience whilst meeting core objectives such as infection prevention and privacy and dignity.
- Better attract and retain good quality medical and nursing staff to work for RCHT in modern purpose-built facilities.
- Relocate Paediatrics from Tower adjacent to improve the quality and safety of care.
- Provide a co-located Pharmacy Department
- Consolidate the RCH site by developing a new front entrance with better links.
- Consideration for vehicular and pedestrian movement across the entrance area.
- Promote Health and Wellbeing through the new design by introducing lots of natural daylight, ventilation and sustainable measures.
- Create a new sense of arrival and reduce signage for wayfinding.
