KTA successfully delivered the relocation of Mammography Screening Services for University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust
Now housed within the existing Merchant building, the newly refurbished facility places mammography services at the heart of Plymouth, improving accessibility for patients. Although identifying a suitable location initially posed challenges, the team was able to reimagine and redesign the Merchant building to provide a more robust and permanent home for the screening services—representing a significant upgrade from the previous site.
The unit has been comprehensively refurbished to include two state-of-the-art mammography rooms, a welcoming reception and waiting area, and supporting clinical facilities. Thoughtful design touches such as digi-clad feature walls in the mammography rooms help create a calm and comforting environment for patients. Additionally, privacy has been carefully considered through the application of window films to the existing glazing, ensuring a discreet and professional space for both patients and staff.
