KTA’s masterplan for the Ted Wragg Multi Academy Trust responds to the Trusts brief to amalgamate its twin sites in Crediton onto the main campus site at Western Road. The amalgamation will reduce the cost of running twin sites. The challenging brief proposes 420 lower year students relocate onto the tightly knit campus partly located in a conservation area, giving a total of 1200 students and an improved 6th Form offer in its existing Grade II listed College House. The masterplan proposes a series of decants, refurbishments and removal of certain buildings to create a less cluttered, more navigable campus with a student heart, culminating in a new dining and educational building. The masterplan is devised to provide the School with a 10 year development timeframe commencing with repair and refurbishment of its key listed building College House for its 6th Form Students.
The proposed masterplan is shown here alongside the existing aerial image, incorporating a ‘dining and educational hub’, a new gym extension to the existing sports hall forming a ‘sports hub’ and a new coach pull-in at the front of the school leading to a new forum style ‘entrance hub’ to define the entrance and point of arrival to the school. The whole masterplan will further benefit from an improved landscape proposal.
